Air carlos 1

The goal for this project was to create a signature shoe for carlos alcaraz. carlos is signed with nike but still doesn’t have his own dedicated line so this was something i thought would be fun to design.

For this design, I based much of the design off his current favorite shoe, the Nikecourt Air Zoom Vapor Pro 2021. The most important element I took from his current shoe was to insure security for his lateral movement as Carlos is a player that likes to use as much of the court as possible and this can only be executed if you push yourself to a limit where you are sliding on the court.

The goal for this design was to create a concept that had lateral support but also exposed some Nike Tech such as the Air Bag. For the Upper, I made sure to go with something that felt very uniformed but also secure, and as of result this was an engineered mesh w/ a coating. For the Outsole, I wanted to emphasize the outsole tech, so when it came down to coloring it, I made sure that the Upper and Outsole contrasted each other.
